Junior League of Monroe Community Projects Education Task Force Promotes education in Ouachita Parish by planning and selecting theMini-Grants for teachers, provides ACT workships in both the Fall and Spring for graduating high school seniors and assists with the local Scholar's Banquet.
Senior Friends This program provides enriched activities and services for the older adults at many different agencies in our community. These special activities are designed to give them a sense of self-worth, personal growth, and usefulness.
First Steps The purpose of this program is to provide a hospital based, primary prevention plan, for at-risk mothers as well as have a positive impact on the health of infants. It is designed to help families avoid falling into negative patterns associated with child abuse. The program trains volunteers to provide education, support, and referrals to postpartum mothers.
Kids In The Kitchen Purpose is to increase a basic awareness of nutrition and healthy dietary habits for children through training and education. It examines and implements programs in the community that serve to help educate parents and children about healthy cooking, nutrition, and childhood obesity.
Tools and Literacy for Children - T.L.C. A community service project which focuses on helping children living in poverty. This committee offers various services to children from low-income families through a chosen school. Once a month TLC teaches a program or offers a service to the school. Some services that we offer: back packs filled with school supplies, parenting classes, literacy programs, providing school, uniforms, and stocking a food pantry.
