2019-2020 President’s Message

Meghan Sharp 2019-2020 President

As we embark on a new league year, 2019 – 2020, I would like to first give a very big “Thank You” to Cydni Hanks for all of her hard work and dedication to the league last year. She pushed so hard for many different initiatives, and because of those efforts we will start this year with a great forward momentum.

I am honored and humbled to be in the position to lead the league through another year of advocacy and change in our community. And I also won’t soon forget the legacy of the powerhouse leaders who have served before me. I was entranced by Ashley and how we “Celebrated the Past and Focused on the Future”, then I was empowered by Melissa and our “Mission Possible”, and I was enthused, challenged, and delighted by Cyd making us all “UNSTOPPABLE”.

I joined the league in 2010, pregnant with my daughter Isabelle, aka Izzy, and I’m beginning this year as president of the Junior League of Monroe, pregnant with our 4th daughter. So many of my memories with my girls over the last 10 years are even laced with league house runs and taking candy from the bucket in the office. Or running around the civic center checking out vendors with my girls between shifts at Spring Market. The Junior League has made a huge impact on my life, and I hope to be able to give something back this year.

Over the next year there are a few goals I hope to achieve with you all:

– I want to really break down those 3 main points of our mission

– I want us all to serve each other first as we exemplify servant leadership

– Develop and share annual goals to continue the momentum

– Continue our research of our impact focus areas to determine relevance and areas of potential

I can’t wait to “Grow Through Service” with you all!
